For U.S. paper passport applications, the printed photograph is exactly 2 inches by 2 inches (51×51 mm).
How large should the head be?
The distance from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head must be 1 to 1⅜ inches (25–35 mm). The head and shoulders should be centered and the entire head should remain visible.
Digital dimensions are not the same as physical print size
A square image file alone does not prove that a printed photo meets the physical requirements. Printing scale matters. ReadyPic's paid paper/print workflow provides a square print file plus a 4×6 sheet containing two copies.
